T’Birds Post Volleyball Win Over Maple Grove

MAYVILLE – Chautauqua Lake made its season’s debut in West 2 Division volleyball by turning back Maple Grove (0-1, 0-2), 25-5, 25-8, 25-15, Thursday night.

Jenna Einink had two aces, 11 kills and two digs; Ashton Albanesius an ace, four kills and three digs; Katie Meadows three aces, a kill, nine assists and two digs; Ryleigh Hawkins eight aces, two kills and four digs; Kaylyn Vaillencourt two kills, two digs; and Emily Swoger four aces for the winners.

Maddy Russo delivered two points and six kills; Ashley Trim four points and two assists; Paige Hammond two kills; and Olivia Pembridge a block in the loss.

Chautauqua Lake swept the jayvee match.


SHERMAN – Talia Coccarellli delivered 11 points, eight digs, three kills and three aces, and Bridget Yaw added 11 more points, eight kills and an ace as Sherman defeated Clymer, 25-18, 22-25, 25-23, 25-16.

Roxanne Toy assisted with three aces and two kills in the win.

Morgan Covey scored 14 points and four assists and Christy Reinwald nine points, four digs, three kills and two blocks in the loss.

Clymer won the jayvee match in three games.



BROCTON- Fredonia (1-0, 3-0) picked up a win over Brocton (0-1), 25-26, 20-25, 25-7, 25-23. For the winners Emily Ludwig notched 12 kills and three aces while Andrea Smith had four aces and 16 assists.

Cori Gullo added six aces and 12 digs for Fredonia while Lindsay Harp led Brocton with nine kills, two blocks and one ace, and Carson Hauser had 13 assists and two digs.


DUNKIRK – Lauren Tordella’s one ace, six kills and one block lifted the undefeated Panama Lady Panthers (4-0, 2-0) to a 25-15, 25-20, 25-16 victory over Dunkirk (0-2, 0-1).

Taylor Bowen added two aces, four kills and 14 assists while Madalyn Bowen finished with three aces and four kills in the win.

The Lady Marauders were led by Natasha Colon’s 17 assists and one dig. Sarah Hanlon charted 10 kills, two assists, two digs and four blocks, and Arielle Holmes had seven kills and five digs in defeat.



ALLEGANY-Cattaraugus-Little Valley/Ellicottville (1-0, 3-0) picked up a close five-set win over Allegany-Limestone (0-1, 2-1), prevailing 22-25, 22-25, 25-21, 25-20, 25-20.

For the winners, Natalie Booth collected 18 kills and 14 digs, while Ashlee Harvey managed 22 kills and Marissa Hamilton added 51 assists and 18 digs.

Allison Watson had 43 kills in the loss with five blocks and 10 digs, teammate Kyley Kinney and Caroline Kaffka each had 21 assists while Stephanie Higley contributed 17 digs for the Lady Gators.
