Harold R. “Bob” Smith

Harold R. “Bob” Smith, 71, of Falconer passed away Friday (Aug. 29, 2014), in UPMC Hamot, Erie, Pa.

A lifelong area resident he was born May 19, 1943, in Jamestown, the son of the late Allen and Margie Homberg Smith.

Bob was a graduate of Falconer High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Vietnam War from 1966-68 in Germany. He had been employed by MRC-SKF for 45 years.

Bob always put others first and enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a member of the Busti Federated Church and was a Cleveland Browns fan and Browns Backer.

Surviving are his wife, Nancy L. Stormer Smith, whom he married Nov. 2, 1968; and his son, Michael “Smitty” Smith and his wife Suzi, of whom Bob referred as the daughter he never had. Also surviving are two granddaughters: Makayla and Kaitlin Smith.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the Falconer Funeral Home. The Rev. David Olson of Ross Mills Church and the Rev. Lee O’Brien of Busti Federated Church will officiate.

Friends will be received by the family one hour prior to the memorial service in the funeral.
