Conklin Additionally Charged With Grand Larceny

SHERMAN – Jonathan M. Conklin, one of the two men charged in the homicide of Westfield resident Mary E. Whitaker, has additionally been charged with fourth-degree grand larceny stemming from an early August incident.

Police say Conklin entered Murdock’s Family Restaurant in Sherman during normal business hours on Sunday, Aug. 3 and stole $1,150.

Conklin then allegedly traveled to Erie, Pa. to avoid sheriff’s deputies and warrants were obtained for his arrest.

On Aug. 22, while in Erie, Conklin was apprehended on the homicide charges and he is currently in Chautauqua County Jail awaiting court action on the grand larceny charges.
