‘Darkness To Light’ Set For Wednesday

The local Raymour & Flanigan store will turn its attention to matters other than selling furniture as it plays host to a community event this week.

Through a partnership between the local retailer and the Chautauqua County Child Advocacy Program, a “Darkness to Light” event will be hosted at the store Wednesday evening to raise awareness of area children who have suffered from abuse.

The event will take place from 6-9 p.m. in the Raymour & Flanigan showroom, located at 1001 Fairmount Ave. Child Advocacy Program staff and board members will be available to discuss the realities that child abuse victims can face, as well as the services the local organization provides to abuse victims and their families in order to curtail future abuse from ever taking place.

According to John Sansone, Raymour & Flanigan store manager, the “Darkness to Light” event is part of the company’s ongoing community outreach efforts designed to give back to the communities it serves.

“Our company has made an initiative to reach out to local community programs, and set up community events in-house to give them a point of destination as a venue for them to set up an event of their own,” Sansone said. “This gives an opportunity to have a little fun and enjoy all those things we are doing as far as the showroom goes.”

“When considering who to partner with, the Child Advocacy Program was a no-brainer,” he continued. “The work they do is fantastic, and it’s a pleasure to be able to help in any way we can. So we decided it would be a nice community outreach event to have with the CAP, and partner with them to have an event here in-store as a venue for people to meet-and-greet outside of the CAP environment to hear what they’re all about and see what they provide.”

The event will also serve as an opportunity for the Child Advocacy Program to raise some funds. An in-house basket auction will be held, and refreshments will also be available. All proceeds will directly benefit the CAP. Additionally, attendees to the event will also receive an exclusive savings offer from Raymour and Flanigan.
