Harmony Historical Society To Gather

BLOCKVILLE – The Harmony Historical Society, Open Meadows Road, Blockville, will meet on Tuesday at 6 p.m. for a picnic dinner meeting and camp fire with the Boy Scouts sponsored by the society. Those persons attending should take their table service. The Boy Scouts are providing the dinner.

Lyn Nagel, vice president, opened a recent meeting, attended by 13 members, with a flag salute. Minutes from the previous meeting and the treasurer’s report were accepted as read.

Discussion was on plans for the Fall Festival on Oct. 4-5. The Ashville Library donated books for a book sale and also individual book donations. Posters are being ordered. Tickets for an embroidered quilt are currently on sale; vendors and demonstrators are in need.

Norm Carlson, a local historian, spoke on ”The Dark Day of Sept. 24, 1950″ following a recent dinner meeting.

Memberships are currently being renewed.

The Historical Society meets for a business meeting from April through December the first Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. and for a dinner meeting at 6 p.m. on the third Tuesday of each month, followed by a program.
