Elizabeth B. Carlson

Elizabeth B. Carlson, 86, of Rochester, formerly of Jamestown, died Thursday Aug. 7, 2014, in Highland Hospital, Rochester.

She was born June 5, 1928, in New York City, a daughter of the late Clayton and Esther Berg.

She was a 1946 graduate of Cassadaga High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in education from Fredonia College.

Prior to her retirement she was employed by Jamestown Public Schools System as a teacher at Fairmount Elementary School.

She was a member of Christ First United Methodist Church and earlier had belonged to Bethel Lutheran Church. She was also a member of Beta Sigma Phi.

Surviving are two children: MaryBeth (Scott) Meredith of Ashville and Mark (Debbie) Carlson of Ontario, N.Y.; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard M. Carlson, whom she married Aug. 15, 1953, and who died Oct. 22, 2009; and a grandson, Michael Caouette, in 1986.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Sept. 5, 2014, in Christ Chapel of Lutheran. The Rev. Daniel S. Rumfelt will officiate.

Friends will be received in Fine Dining of Lutheran following the service.
