The tent will be located along Lafayette Street, closest to the Jamestown Savings Bank Arena. The barbecue will be held rain or shine.
The barbecue will start at noon and continue until everything has been sold. All proceeds benefit the Veterans of Modern Warfare Chapter 20, co-located with the Vietnam Veterans of America 865 at 41 Bigelow Ave., Jamestown.
The mission of the VMW is to recruit and inform local veterans of benefits, and maintain the integrity that no veteran is left behind or forgotten. They continuously conduct various fundraisers to raise money for veterans in need, families of veterans in need, care packages to service members, and make donations to community foundations. On a regular basis they conduct flag ceremonies, participate in parades, military funerals as requested, benefits for veterans and veterans families in need, all in conjunction with the VVA Chapter 865.
“We are a veterans’ organization who is dedicated to assisting all veterans past, present, and future in any matter which may come our way,” said Joe Paladino, president, “Whether someone needs directions to services, an ear to talk to, or just to see brothers and sisters with a common bond, we are here for them. Come see what our brother/sisterhood is. We would love to see you and tell you all about what we do.”
In November their Support the Troops Program will host the fifth annual Veterans Day Bash held at 41 Bigelow Ave. in Jamestown. A pig roast dinner, drawings and live entertainment will be featured. Kids 10 and under are free. All non-members must sign in. Proceeds benefit the Support the Troops Care Package Program and the VMW.
Starting Dec. 1 through Dec. 24, or until sold out, the VMW will be selling Christmas Trees at Harley-Davidson of Jamestown located on Route 394 in Falconer. Proceeds also benefit the VMW, VVA and the Support the Troops Care Package Program.
