Downtown Jamestown Affected By Power Outages
A two-hour power outage struck downtown Jamestown on Tuesday, affecting Sixth Street, parts of Second Street and several traffic lights along Third Street from Washington to Main street.
According to Becky Robbins, communications director with the Jamestown Board of Public Utilities, a problem with a transformer at the BPU Washington Street substation caused the outage from 6:20-8:30 p.m.
BPU personnel were able to restore power in stages by 7 p.m., 7:20 p.m. and 8:40 p.m.
Employees will investigate the cause at a later time when equipment can be examined, Robbins said.
