BPU Offering Attic Insulation Rebate Program
The Jamestown Board of Public Utilities is inviting residential electric customers who use permanently installed electric heating equipment as their primary heat source to participate in the BPU Attic Insulation Rebate Program.
Attic insulation should be 12 to 16 inches thick in order to be effective. If it is not, an upgrade should be considered. The Jamestown BPU is offering a rebate on up to 50 percent of the cost of materials, with a $500 maximum amount per house and $5,000 per landlord.
The cost to install materials is not included,;only the cost of the materials themselves. Rebates are available for fiberglass and cellulose insulation. The rebate will be received in the form of a credit on BPU bills for owner-occupied residences and by check for rental property units.
Those willing to participate in the program must take and submit photos showing the depth of insulation before and after installation. Along with the photos, the original receipt or invoice from the purchase of materials and a rebate form should be submitted to the BPU Customer Service Office, 92 Steele St., open from 7 a.m to 5:30 p.m. weekdays.
