JPS To Host Public Hearing For Rogers School

Jamestown Public Schools will hold a public hearing on Tuesday at 6 p.m. in the Board of Education Meeting Room at 197 Martin Road. The intent of the public hearing is to provide information and input on holding school-related programs, which are currently occurring in the district at schools and other facilities, at Rogers School. Although the changes proposed do not require a public hearing, the district believes that holding one provides the greatest opportunity for advanced public notice and input.

Two examples of proposed school-related programming to occur at Rogers School are: housing the Jamestown Community Learning Council’s offices and providing district professional development workshops. The JCLC is currently located at Lincoln Elementary School and its relocation to Rogers school is to accommodate remodeling activities at Lincoln school. Professional development activities for JPS educators and staff, such as seminars and training courses, are currently held in locations across the district, but during the school year, there are few large spaces available for training. The former library at Rogers school is perfectly suited for such activities.

Currently, the Jamestown Public Schools uses Rogers School for general school use including, administrative, office, storage and light maintenance.
