A Buffalo man got himself in a bind Friday after he drove his tractor-trailer under a city bridge apparently too low for his truck.
Tolkin S. Khasratov, 37, was traveling northbound on Sprague Street toward West Second Street when he reportedly failed to notice a sign warning him of the bridge’s 11 feet height. His trailer was close to 13 feet high.
At 10:07 a.m., Khasratov’s trailer got lodged underneath the bridge, and forced Jamestown Police to close the road for about an hour.
The tractor and trailer were later separated, and a towing service was able to pull the trailer back out from underneath the bridge.
No injuries were sustained.
The extent of damage to the bridge is being inspected by the Western New York & Pennsylvania Railroad.
Police say Khasratov should have taken a detour onto Steel Street. He was charged with failing to obey a traffic control device.
