Paul A. Silzle

STEDMAN – Paul A. Silzle, 71, of 32 Hyde Park Drive, Panama, formerly of Stedman, died Thursday (July 31, 2014) at UPMC Hamot Medical Center in Erie, Pa.

He was born Dec. 3, 1942, in Philadelphia, the son of the late Frank and Doris Bollman Silzle.

Paul was a veteran having served with the U.S. Navy during Vietnam and having been deployed dur-ing the Cuban missile crisis.

Prior to retirement he was a machinist at General Electric in Erie.

Paul was a member of the War Vets, North Harmony Senior Citizens, a life member of the American Legion in Sherman, a member of the North Harmony Zoning Board, UE Local 506 of which he was the union steward, and he belonged to the Attitude Adjustment Group.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding his four-wheeler, and playing cribbage.

He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Gill Silzle, whom he married March 12, 1962, in Philadelphia; three children: Susan Applegarth of Mayville, Paul (Karen) Silzle Jr. of Jamestown and Christine (Timothy Sturges) Silzle of Panama; seven grandchildren: Erin Applegarth, Kari (Joe) Cunningham, David Applegarth Jr., Hannah Silzle, Jenna Silzle, Karleen Sturges and Addalyn Sturges; and three great–grandchildren: Londyn, Aiyana and Kaelynn.

He was preceded in death by a half-brother, Frank Silzle Jr.; brother, Bruce Sil-zle, and a stepbrother, Dominic Mattera.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday (Aug. 17, 2014) from noon-4 p.m. at the North Harmony Senior Citizens Building in Stow.

Memorials may be made to the North Harmony Senior Citizens or American Cancer Society.
