Cherry Creek Summer Gazebo Concert Series Continues Tonight
CHERRY CREEK – The sixth concert in the 2014 Cherry Creek Summer Gazebo Concert Series will take place tonight at 6:30 p.m. in the gazebo of the Memorial Park located on Main Street behind the Town Hall. Featured performers for the evening will be Paul Zittle and Pure Country.
Zittle and his group have been favored performers of local country music enthusiasts for many years. They delight audiences with their renditions of country standards as well as new songs, and they excel in the nearly forgotten art of plating square dances as well.
“We really hope that the newly installed cement dance pad will get a workout this week,” said Brenda Hendricks of the Cherry Creek Community Association.
This year’s concert series title has been “Arts In The Garden” – an attempt to merge different mediums of the arts together. The first four concerts of the season offered art projects for concert attendees that wished to participate. Those completed projects will be on display at the Community Picnic to be held at 6 p.m., just prior to the final concert of the season, Aug. 14. The last three concerts feature art through movement – different forms of dance. Last week featured ballroom and swing dancing. Thursday’s concert will feature round and square dancing.
Those planning to attend the concert are reminded to bring lawn chairs for seating, and that supper-type refreshments will be available for their enjoyment.
The 2014 Cherry Creek Summer Gazebo Concert Series is sponsored by the Cherry Creek Community Association Inc., and funded in part by the New York State Decentralization Regrant Program administered by the Cattaraugus County Arts Council, area businesses, the town and village of Cherry Creek, and community members.
