JAMA Partners With Great Lakes Physician Practice

To proactively confront challenges like physician recruitment, Jamestown Area Medical Associates has partnered with Great Lakes Physician Practice.

Great Lakes Physician Practice, a provider organization affiliated with UPMC Hamot in Erie, Pa., acquired Jamestown Area Medical Associates – also known as JAMA – earlier this month. The partnership will integrate JAMA’s 13 physician partners, five employed physicians, seven mid-level providers and its more than 100 employees into Great Lakes Physician Practice.

Kevin Saff, JAMA executive director, said it is great to be partnered with a larger health care organization to assist with issues that face all medical providers like ongoing recruitment challenges, ever-increasing health care expenses and declining reimbursements.

”We are really hoping it provides additional physicians to the market place that we haven’t been able to recruit in the past,” he said.

Saff said JAMA patients will see no major changes from the new partnership.

”They will come in and see the same doctor, it will be the same phone number and the same offices,” he said. ”The bill will be from a different entity, but they will get the same great quality care they are accustomed to receiving.”

Saff said JAMA officials have been talking about finding a larger medical partner the last couple years. The need for the partnership will ensure continued growth and advanced quality health care for patients throughout Southern Chautauqua County. After thorough consideration, JAMA officials determined that an affiliation with Great Lakes Physician Practice would support and strengthen its strategic objectives, including its ongoing physician recruitment and development efforts.

”We are excited to affiliate with Great Lakes Physician Practice and UPMC Hamot,” said Dr. James Cirbus, JAMA chairman. ”By joining a robust system, we are confident that we can offer Southern Chautauqua County patients greater access to specialized services and comprehensive programs.”

According to Jim Fiorenzo, UPMC Hamot president, the JAMA and Great Lakes Physician Practice affiliation augments UPMC Hamot’s ongoing investment in Chautauqua County.

”UPMC Hamot already has an established relationship with WCA Hospital and our nationally recognized cardiology program has had a long-standing presence in this region,” Fiorenzo said. ”Partnering with JAMA’s excellent physicians and staff enhances our ability to offer superior quality care and services to patients of this region.”

JAMA’s contact information and locations will remain the same under its new trade name ”Jamestown Area Medical Associates-GLPP.” The Jamestown Area Medical Associates is located in the Riverwalk Center, 15 S. Main St., Jamestown. For more information, call 488-1877 or visit
