Harmony Seniors Enjoy Chicken Dinner

PANAMA – The Harmony Seniors met on July 3 for a chicken barbecue with 50 members present. Melvin Lord, Chaplain, read “A Prayer for America,” led the flag salute and gave the dinner prayer.

Birthdays were celebrated by Bonnie Anderson and Franklin Hanson. Pauline and Skip Edsall celebrated an anniversary.

Sally Hagg, president, welcomed members and conducted a brief business meeting and thanked the food committee for their help.

The secretary and treasurer reports were read and approved. Members were reminded that dues of $8 will be collected at the September meeting. An audit of the books is also due in September. A committee will be appointed.

Approval was given for the purchase of a $25 gift certificate to be donated to the Office for the Aging picnic. In addition, a $35 basket and a basket filled with groceries was approved for the United Senior Council dinner to be held on Aug. 27 at 3 p.m. at the Findley Lake Community Building. The cost of the dinner is $11, with the club paying $3 per person. The $8 and reservations are due at the Aug. 7 meeting. Members are asked to bring non-perishable food items for the basket donation.

Dottie Enlow, trip chairperson, reported there are two seats available on the Oct. 3-4 trip to Lancaster and one seat open on the Aug. 25 mystery trip.

A tureen dinner will be held on Aug. 7 at 5 p.m. at the Panama United Methodist Church. New members are welcome to attend. The food committee is Joyce Ecker, Joanne Wiggers, Tom and Bev Smith and Lester and Wyona Wevers.

Following the business meeting, entertainment provided by Tracy Purnell was enjoyed by all.
