Jim Beatty To Perform Saturday
Jamestown native and internationally known jazz clarinetist, Jim Beatty will be performing at a “Jazz Gathering” at the Jamestown Elks Club on Saturday from 7-9 p.m.
Beatty will get together with drummer John Andria – a popular local artist – for the first time in 62 years. Beatty will also be reunited with his old friend from Warren, Pa., trombonist Pete Pepke. Pepke has been playing concerts and festivals with Beatty and his band for over 55 years coast to coast. Dalt Berringer, who also played with Beatty locally in the early 1960s, will be playing piano. Rounding out the group will be Toby Hanks on bass. Hanks is a retired bass player after many years with the Chautauqua Symphony.
Beatty, a highly renowned jazz soloist, has performed around the world at concerts, clubs, jazz festivals and teaching academies. He has also recorded extensively. Beatty will be in Jamestown to attend Jamestown High School’s Class of 1952 picnic on Friday at D’Angelo’s Place. For more information on Jim Beatty and his music go to www.jimbeattyjazz.com.
