Much Appreciated

The Resident Council of the Lutheran Home and Rehabilitation Center surprised Stewart Gard, certified nursing assistant, with an Award of Appreciation “in recognition of his excellent work ethic and his always being willing to go above and beyond.” He was awarded a certificate and a Tim Hortons gift card.

Linda Paterniti could not say enough about Stewart, “We are just thankful for him. He is right there when we need him. When I went to dialysis classes, he went with me. He knew I was scared. He held my hand the whole time. He asked the questions that I didn’t think of. His hugs and smiles make my day.”

Nancy Crofoot agreed with Linda, “He always has a smile. He makes you laugh if you’re having a bad day. He answers your bell whether it’s his assignment or not.”

Denise Ohman, LHRC director of Social Work, agreed with Nancy and Linda. “The Resident Council was pleased to vote for Stewart to be their ‘Employee of the Month.’ The entire council had nothing but praise for Stewart. He is a wonderful role model.”

Stewart was surprised by the award. “It is great to be voted employee of the month by your co-workers, but to actually have this award come from the residents who are my family, that’s awesome.”

The LHRC Resident Council is an active group that meets monthly, assists with menu planning, plans fund raising activities, and schedules several programs during the year to benefit staff and residents.
