Amish Horse Waste: A Simple Solution?

To the Readers’ Forum:

In regards to the recent controversy about horse waste on the roads in the city, there may be a simple solution. What about bags that attach to the rear of the horse to collect waste like the ones they use at Chautauqua Institution sleigh rides?

I can understand that in city areas and streets, it would not be appreciated.

We live in the country and many of us have our own horses to pick up after and road manure gets washed away and doesn’t bother so much.

Maybe some communication with the Amish would be appreciated as they possibly don’t even realize that this is an issue and causing problems for some. They seem to be very peaceful, understanding people. not wanting to cause problems with their English neighbors.
