Ashville Community Day A ‘Success’
To The Reader’s Forum:
Ashville Community Celebration Day was held on July 19 at the baseball field in Ashville. From the dedication to the veterans and the playing of the Taps, to the judging of the Amish men’s hats, the day was a total success!
We had quite a few local merchants who donated gifts to the festivities, and Martha, Marsha and I would like to thank them for their generosity! We also had 35 vendors sign up, of whom 17 braved the rain showers and stayed throughout the day – we thank you so very much! To all of the people who came and played with us throughout the day, we loved every minute of the laughter and pranks that filled the day with happiness! We had 29 participants in the parade! The floats were fabulous and so in tune with what we were celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Town of North Harmony Ashville Volunteer Fire Department! Young and old all found something to participate in and we cannot wait to start planning for next year’s event! A special ‘Thank You’ goes out to Jim Wroda for the use of the auction house parking lot and the speaker system – the community seemed to enjoy the music and being able to follow what was going on around them as we announced each game and challenge!
I would like to thank Martha and Marsha for their help in the past 6 months. It took a lot of planning and organizing to get things together!
So, on to next year! We already have some plans drawn up and if you would like to be a part of a growing tradition, please let me know and I’ll add your name to our list! We would like to see about 50 vendors and artisans participate next year – would you like to be one of them? If so, please contact me at 789-9849.
Ashville, thank you for allowing us to have fun with ya’all !
