Mel Perks Memorial Motorcycle Run For Hospice Saturday

KENNEDY – Family and friends of the late Mel Perks are again organizing a motorcycle run to benefit Hospice and Palliative Care of Chautauqua County. The event will be held on Saturday at The Pad, 1064 Route 394, Kennedy.

Registration will be held from 10-11 a.m. with kickstands up at 11:30 a.m. There will also be a chicken barbecue beginning at noon and a live auction at 2 p.m. Music will be provided by the bands Day Old Soup from 3-6 p.m. and Steele Horse from 6-10 p.m.

Free will donations will be accepted as registration fees for the ride. Individuals willing to make monetary donations in support of the event or items/services for the live and silent auction should contact Coordinator Al Sutter at 665-1276. Donations can also be dropped off at The Pad.

Perks, a U.S. Army veteran who served in Vietnam, was employed at the former Jamestown Sterlingworth for 20 years, where he retired as plant manager. He later owned the Frewsburg News Room and Mel’s Place in Falconer. He died in 2012 after a brief illness. His friends and family wish to honor his memory with a donation to Hospice in appreciation for their care and support.
