Celoron Village Picnic To Take Place In August

CELORON- Celoron will be holding its fifth annual village picnic at the beginning of August.

On Saturday, Aug. 2, village residents can meet with neighbors and enjoy entertainment by Marty’s Bubblegum Machine. From noon-2 p.m., the bandshell will hold special events for the children including games and music. Families are asked to bring a dish to pass and their own tableware. The dishes are divided into four categories – casseroles, snacks, salads and desserts – and need to be registered by July 31. The village will provide hamburgers, hotdogs, rolls, condiments and cold drinks.

To register, call the village offices at 487-4175, and ask for Jetta.

In other news, a public hearing on the renewal of the Time Warner Special Franchise will be held on Aug. 11 at 5:50 p.m. Time Warner Cable runs lines through the village and the company pays the village a percentage of their net revenue to do so.

The village took out a $160,000 bond to help purchase a 2015 International Dump Truck with a snow and ice package.

The deputy clerk and village attorney will attend a fall training school, and the board reminded the code enforcement officer and dog control officer to keep time sheets.

Mayor Scott Schrencengost approved the village joining the Chautauqua Lake Management Alliance.
