Messina Tourney Raises Over $20K

The inaugural Vince Messina Memorial Golf Tournament, which took place at Conewango Valley Country Club on May 31, raised more than $20,000 for the Vincent A. Messina Memorial Scholarship at the WCA Foundation.

The tournament boasted a nearly full field of golfers who teamed with sponsors and donors to raise $20,462.04, surpassing the committee’s original goal. The tournament benefits the Vincent A. Messina Memorial Scholarship Fund at the WCA Foundation which will provide scholarships for future students of the WCA Hospital School of Radiology.

The committee also announced that the second annual tournament is already scheduled at Conewango Valley Country Club on Saturday, May 30, 2015.

After more than 35 years of dedicated service within the Radiology Department and shortly after retiring from WCA Hospital in 2013, Vince Messina died. After his passing, Messina’s wife, Kathy, created a memorial fund to provide scholarships to students enrolled in the WCA Hospital School of Radiology. Messina was a proud member of the radiology school’s first graduating class in 1969. Shortly thereafter, to reinforce Messina’s love for the game of golf and to pay special tribute to him, friends and co-workers joined together to create the Vince Messina Memorial Golf Tournament.
