Olive Mae Lindell
Olive Mae Lindell passed away peacefully after an extended illness on July 14, 2014, at her daughter’s home in Sugar Grove, Pa. She was 85 years old.
Olive Mae was a lifelong resident of Lander, Pa., the daughter of Jay and Cecile Cowles, and was preceded in death by her dear husband Kenneth on April 21, 2009. They were married on June 5, 1948 and enjoyed a wonderful life together for over 60 years.
Olive Mae graduated from Lander High School and attended Chatham College in Pittsburgh for two years before she was married. She enjoyed a life of love, raising and supporting a beautiful family.
She also enjoyed genealogy, local history, and was well known for and will be missed by many for her records of descendants of families who originally settled in the Lander area. Her family will miss a very loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and the best pie maker in the world.
Olive Mae was on the Northern Area School Board for a number of years and served on many Lander United Methodist Church committees. She is probably best known by many for her 30-plus years of driving school bus for the Eisenhower High School attendance area.
Olive Mae is survived by a daughter, Fae (Jerry) Rouse; sons: Jay (Dawn) Lindell and Jake Lindell; grandchildren: Lisa (Eric) Hagberg, Ben Rouse, Jared (Karen) Lindell, Justine Ishman, Jason Lindell, Andrew Lindell, Brooke Lindell, Brandon Lindell; and great-grandchildren: Tyler Briggs, Meghan Hagberg, Alex Hagberg, Justin Hagberg, Kaitlin Ishman, and Bowen Lindell.
Olive Mae was also preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey in 1994; a grandson-in-law, Darby Ishman; and a great-grandson, Jeffrey Ishman.
