Parents: Teach Your Kids To Respect The Flag

To the Readers’ Forum:

I attended the July 2 band concert in Allen Park. I happened to be sitting at the top of the hill and saw Pete Carlo giving out flags, which was very nice.

Now, kids will be kids, but what I observed was disappointing. One child tried to put the top of the flag into the ground while others laid them on the ground and sat on them. Parents, it is not too late to teach your children respect for the flag and what it stands for. Too many veterans have died and many come back wounded. For the people who march in the parade, the American Flag is straight up. When you pass the reviewing stand, the American Flag should stay up and rest dip.
