Ruth E. Henderson

Ruth E. Henderson, 90, of Jamestown, N.Y., died Friday, July 4, 2014.

She was born Dec. 8, 1923, in Sinclairville, N.Y., the daughter of the late Grover and Margaret (James) Eldred.

Ruth graduated from the South Dayton School Sys-tem in South Dayton, N.Y.

Her working career included laboratory technician at Carnation Milk Plant and assistant to Dr. Vernon Dunfield, South Dayton, and at Cornell Cooperative Extension based in Fredonia, N.Y.

Predeceased by her husband of 66 years, Walter L. “Bud” Henderson, her family was the center of her life.

She is survived by a son James L. (Jeanie) Henderson of Randolph; and daughter, Nancy H. (late Russell) Morey of Fredonia. She was the beloved grandmother of Joshua (Mindy) Henderson and Jodee (Kurt) Jones of Randolph; Stephanie (Anthony) Barone of Lexington, S.C., and Heather (David) Foley and Cara (Brett) Gould of Fredonia. She was the loving great-grandmother of Griffin Best, Turah and Marin Jones, Cooper and Owen Henderson, Walter and Megan Foley, Marley, Nate and Luca Barone and Ella, Oscar and Sawyer Gould. She is also survived by sister Bettie Lee Yerka of Ithaca, N.Y., and Roger and Nova Casten of Falconer.

She was predeceased by sisters: Margaret Frankson and Arloine Thorpe; and an infant brother, James Lee Eldred.

Ruth was a founding member of the Cherry Creek Mother’s Club and a member of the Cherry Creek Order of the Eastern Star and Jamestown Shrine Auxiliary.

She enjoyed creative, homestyle cooking, shopping and golfing.

Arrangements are by the McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home. A celebration of her life and legacy will be held at a later date to be announced for family and friends.
