Norris L. Nobles

SOUTH DAYTON –

Norris L. Nobles, 82, a millwright for Ford Motor Company, Buffalo, N.Y., where he worked for 20 years, died Sunday, July 6, 2014, at Buffalo General Hospital in Buffalo, N.Y.

He was born May 1, 1932 in South Dayton, N.Y., the son of the late Harry and Nellie (Austin) Nobles.

Norris worked as a union carpenter with Mallaber Construction, Cattaraugus, N.Y.

He was a member of the Chautauqua County Antique Equipment Association, American Legion Post 1593 of South Dayton, Cherry Creek Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2522, Villenova Grange, past Villenova town councilman, board member of the Villenova Cemetery Association and the Pioneer Social Club in Forestville. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict, having attained the rank of corporal.

He is survived by his wife, Loretta Smith Nobles, whom he married June 25, 1955, of South Dayton, N.Y.; two sons; Greg H. (Tammy) Nobles of Cleveland, Ohio, and Jeff (Laura) Nobles of Rochester, N.Y.; a daughter, Cindy N. (Mark) Cybart of Forestville, N.Y.; seven grandchildren: Matt, Stacy, Chad, Aaron, Caitlin, Steven and Emily; a great-grandson, Dylan; three brothers: Austin (Marion) Nobles of North Tonawanda, N.Y., Jack (Carol) Nobles of Michigan, Higley (Joan) Nobles of South Dayton, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his two daughters: Judy Marie Nobles and Mary Loretta Nobles; two sisters: Alice Ryder and Alta Nobles; and a brother, Marc Nobles.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 10, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Hills Funeral Chapel, 478 Balcom Corners, South Dayton, N.Y. Pastor Becky Ward of South Dayton United Methodist Church, will officiate. Military honors will be conducted by the South Dayton American Legion Post 1593 and the Pine Valley Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2522.

Burial will be in the Villenova Cemetery in the town of Villenova.

Visitation will be held at Hills Funeral Chapel on Wednesday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m.
