Legal Assistance Adds Interns

The Jamestown office of Legal Assistance of Western New York, Inc. recently announced two summer interns are participating in the AmeriCorps JD Program through Equal Justice Works. These law students will earn an AmeriCorps educational award on successful completion of a summerlong project. Both students are working to increase existing civil legal services for veterans and military families, a new project started in late 2013.

“We’re thrilled to be able to give law students from Chautauqua County an opportunity to give back, while they learn about our law office and about the collegial practice in our community,” said Todd Thomas, Jamestown managing attorney.

Both AmeriCorps JD members have just completed their second year of study at the University at Buffalo School of Law. Jenna DiLuca is a 2007 Southwestern graduate who went on to graduate summa cum laude from Mercyhurst (’11) prior to UB Law. Kristy Woodfield is a 2008 Southwestern graduate who first furthered her education at JCC (’10) and was Phi Beta Kappa at UB (’12) prior to beginning her legal education.
