Bicyclist Struck By Car, Sent To WCA Hospital

A 21-year-old Jamestown man was sent to WCA Hospital on Friday after a vehicle struck his bicycle at a city intersection.

At approximately 1:30 p.m., the man — whose name was not released — was reportedly riding eastbound on West Fifth Street — the wrong way on a one-way street — when he was struck by a Jeep Liberty traveling northbound on Jefferson Street.

The victim sustained minor injures to his head and right knee. He was not wearing a helmet.

Jamestown Police responded to the scene along with Alstar Ambulance, which later transported the victim to WCA Hospital.

The driver of the Jeep Libery was uninjured.

According to Captain Todd Isaacson of the Jamestown Police Department, the bicyclist may be ticketed for traveling the wrong way on a one-way street.

He also advised drivers to look both ways at an intersection, regardless if the road is one-way or not.
