Karen Anne Linnea Rowe
Karen Anne Linnea Rowe, age 55, of Jamestown, N.Y., died peacefully early Monday, June 16, 2014, at UPMC Hamot Hospital in Erie, Pa., from complications of a brain hemorrhage. Karen was born in Columbus, Ohio, and graduated from Walnut Ridge HS in 1975. She attended JCC and graduated Summa Cum Laude from SUNY Fredonia. She was employed as a merchandising representative and substitute teacher in the Jamestown Public School system.
Karen is survived by son, Joel R S Rowe of New York City, parents Robert and Ruth Brown of Columbus, Ohio, partner Steven Cheney of Kiantone, N.Y., his children Rachel Peace and Adam Cheney, their grandfather Henry Cheney, brothers Keith (Diane) Brown of Delaware, Ohio, and Gary (Kim Fortney) Brown of New Albany, Ohio.
She was a dedicated caretaker of mother-in-law Sadie Rowe, father-in-law Jack Rowe, former husband Joseph Rowe and most recently her partner’s mother, Ruby Cheney. She enjoyed horse back riding, hiking, kayaking, writing and supporting her partner’s dairy farm.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, June 25, at 3 p.m. at the Episcopal Chapel of the Good Shepherd inside Chautauqua Institution. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are encouraged to the charity of any donor’s choice.
