Richard Hammond Stone Jr.
Word has been received of the passing of Richard H. Stone Jr. on Nov. 13, 2013 in San Jose, Calif.
Richard, better known to his friends and classmates as “Squeaky,” was born May 18, 1930, in Jamestown, N.Y., a son of the late Richard and Genevieve Stone Sr.
He was educated at Ss. Peter & Paul’s Catholic School, Jamestown Public Schools and graduated in Jamestown High School’s class of 1948.
Richard served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He attended college to earn his degree in engineering and then worked for the General Electric Co. as a nuclear engineer for 43 years.
Dick and his wife, Amanda, were married for 59 years, and were blessed with 11 children, 22 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Besides working at GE, he found time to be a golfer, a competitive diver and a woodworker. Dick kept his fighting spirit and sense of humor until the very end.
A Mass of Christian Burial was said in Saint Christopher Catholic Church in San Jose on Nov. 18, 2013. Burial was private.
