Firecracker Road Race Set For July 4

LAKEWOOD – The Firecracker road race, one of the area’s largest, will be held at 9 a.m., July 4 at the Lakewood Beach.

The event, sponsored by the Lakewood YMCA, features a men’s and women’s 10-kilometer run, a two-mile run and a two-mile walk.

Pre-registration will guarantee participants a T-shirt. Late registration will be held from 7-8:30 a.m., the day of the race at the Lakewood Beach. The cost is $20 pre-registration for adults and $25 for adults on the day of the race.

Prizes will be awarded to the first three male and first three female finishers. Age group awards will be given to the top three finishers in each division.

The top five male and top five female finishers in the two-mile run and two-mile walk will receive awards.

Children’s races (ages 2-12) will be placed in age groups and run different distances, according to their age. The kids race begins at 9:30 a.m. followed by a M&T Bank money hunt beginning at 11 a.m. at the playground. All children competing receive a prize and kids races are free.
