Students of WCA Hospital’s School of Radiologic Technology celebrated graduation Tuesday night after successfully completing the two-year program.
Cole Burke, Hannah Eklund, Zachary Fellows, Kyle Ingraham, Aleesha Milks and Kacie Peterson were presented with certificates and class pins, while Burke and Milks received awards for their accomplishments.
Burke is a 2008 graduate of Eisenhower High School and is in the process of completing a bachelor’s degree in individual studies with concentrations in music and psychology from Edinboro University.
He received the Murray Marsh Outstanding Student Award on Tuesday night for his performance within the program.
“Cole possesses all of the qualities of a great radiologic technologist, and he’s an extremely hard-working individual who always completes whatever it is he sets out to do,” said Brian Meagher, vice chair of the WCA Foundation.
Milks was awarded a certificate of excellence from the Joint Review Committee on Education and Radiologic Technology, presented by Tammara Hodges, director of imaging services at WCA.
Hodges said Milks’ proficiency, staff relationships and patient care skills were the deciding factors in the award.
“Her diligence and hard work have not gone unnoticed, and she has developed the skills needed to be successful,” Hodges said.
Eklund, a 2012 Frewsburg Central School graduate, and Fellows plan to further their educations at the State University of New York Upstate Medical University.
Ingraham, a 2008 graduate of Iroquois Senior High School in Elma, gave a short speech about how he will miss his classmates. He also received an associate degree from Erie Community College in 2011.
Peterson, a 2009 graduate of Jamestown High School, attended the University at Buffalo prior to pursuing an associate degree in individual studies from Jamestown Community College.
Fellows, Eklund, and Milks also graduated with associate degrees from JCC in May.
The ceremony celebrated the 45th class of graduates from WCA’s School of Radiologic Technology since it was founded in 1967.
