Area Police Reports


SHERMAN – Kenneth W. Brightman, 27, of Sherman was charged Friday with third-degree arson and fourth-degree conspiracy. Terri L. Seekings, 46, of Sherman was charged Friday with third-degree arson and fourth-degree conspiracy. On Feb. 24, 2010, a vehicle fire was reported in Sherman where a 2010 Mercury Mariner vehicle suffered fire damage to its interior. Approximately a week later, the Sheriff’s Office was advised that the fire in question was intentionally set for insurance money. Investigators opened an investigation on this fire and learned that Seekings burned the vehicle. Seekings conspired with Brightman to have the vehicle burned, so she could benefit from insurance money. The investigation found that Brightman intentionally set the fire. Brightman was committed to county jail in liue of bail. Seekings was released on her own recognizance.


BUSTI – John W. Collopy, 71, of Ashville was charged Thursday with fourth-degree criminal mischief, second-degree harassment and disorderly conduct at approximately 3:45 p.m. It is alleged that Collopy threw an egg at an Amish buggy and caused damage to a pair of sunglasses in the buggy. Collopy also used obscene language in a public area.

David F. Compton, 55, of Jamestown was charged Thursday with speed in zone, driving while intoxicated and DWI Per Se. At approximately 10:38 p.m., an officer on Hunt Road observed a vehicle at a high rate of speed. Upon stopping the vehicle, police determined that the driver-Compton-was intoxicated. He will appear in Busti Court at a later date.


ELLICOTT – Pierre N. Morgan, 30, and James E. Pittman Jr., 23, both of Buffalo, were charged on May 25 with third-degree unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. On May 25, police responded to a report of a stolen motor vehicle in Falconer. It is alleged that Morgan and Pittman Jr. took a vehicle from a Falconer residence without the owner’s consent. Both were being held at the county jail for separate charges. They were remanded back to the jail on bail.
