E. Mildred ‘‘Millie’’ Nelson
E. Mildred ”Millie” Nelson, 93, of Heritage Park Rehab and Skilled Nursing, formerly of the Frewsburg Rest Home and 841 Kiantone Road, passed away Friday (May 30, 2014), surrounded by her family who loved her, and will miss her more than words can express.
She was born May 10, 1921, in Rochester, the daughter of the late George W. and Bernice Moore Schieman.
Millie was a 1941 graduate of East High School in Rochester, N.Y., and worked at the Eastman Kodak Company from 1941- 42. She was a longtime active member of the Kiantone Congregational Church and its Ladies Aide.
She was also a member of the Kiantone Birthday Club, Kiantone Senior Citizens and the Chautauqua County Farm Bureau.
Millie and her husband Vinnie worked together on the family dairy farm in Kiantone for more than 50 years, and after their retirement took many bus trips and tours. Millie was also known for her beautiful embroidery needlework, and enjoyed sending greeting cards to family and friends, never forgetting special occasions.
She is survived by her three children: Barbara “Bobette” (David) Dorf of Marion, N.Y., W. Brooks (Emma Jean) Nelson of Delevan, N.Y., and Todd M. (Donna) Nelson of Jamestown; six grandchildren: Scott Nelson of Howell, Mich., Kevin (Laurie) Nelson of Concord, N.C., Amy Lynn Dorf of Winter Park, Fla., Phillip (fiancee, Rachael) Dorf of Marion, N.Y., Christopher (Odessa) Nelson of Raleigh, N.C., and Kerri Marie Nelson of San Francisco, Calif.: six great-grandchildren: Tyler Venema, Larissa Anderson, Kenna and Foster Nelson and Alana and Ethan Nelson; a sister-in- law, Gloria Nelson of Jamestown; and many special nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, and an infant brother, she was predeceased by her husband, C. Vincent Nelson, whom she married Nov. 26, 1942, and who died March 20, 2003; and a sister, Anna Schieman Bidwell.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday June 14, 2014, at the Kiantone Congregational Church, with the Rev. Mel McGinnis, pastor, officiating.
Burial will be in Kiantone Maple Grove Cemetery.
No visitation will be observed.
