Mary Lou Buck

Mary Lou Buck, 83, of East Stroudsburg, Pa., died Thursday afternoon, May 29, at the VNA Hospice House in East Stroudsburg.

She was the widow of Robert A. Buck, who died May 31, 2009.

Born Oct. 15, 1930, in Jamestown, N.Y., she was a daughter of the late Paul E. and May Rose (Fitzgerald) Lawson, and was a resident of Monroe County since 1972.

She was a Jamestown High School graduate and member of the Gamma Mu Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi.

She then attended Alfred University and graduated from Hartford Airline Personnel School in Hartford, Conn.

Mary Lou was a telephone operator for Bell Telephone Company, having first worked in Stroudsburg, and then in Allentown.

She was a member of St. Matthew’s Roman Catholic Church in East Stroudsburg, the Red Hat Society and the Bell Telephone Pioneers.

Surviving are four children: Katherine Buck of Morris Plains, N.J., Kimberly Dimmick and her husband, Peter of East Stroudsburg, Kelly Mark and her husband, Jonathan of Stroudsburg, and Kevin Buck and his wife, Kathleen of Montrose; six grandchildren: Steven Dimmick, Zachary Dimmick, Conor Mark, Casey Mark, Bridget Buck and Brendan Buck; and two nieces and two nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Lawson; and a sister, Jeanne Ann Lawson.

There will be a viewing from 7-8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 3, at the William H. Clark Funeral Home, 1003 Main St., Stroudsburg, Pa. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 4, at St. Matthew’s Roman Catholic Church, East Stroudsburg, Pa. Burial will follow at Laurelwood Cemetery in Stroudsburg.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial remembrances be made to VNA Hospice of Monroe County, 502 VNA Road, East Stroudsburg, PA 18301.
