Ruth C. Peterson

Ruth C. Peterson, 90, formerly of 9459 Chautauqua Road, Little Valley, N.Y., passed away at 2:15 p.m. Wednesday, May 28, 2014, in the Heritage Park Rehab and Skilled Nursing Facility.

A lifelong area resident, she was born Oct. 14, 1923, in Jamestown, N.Y., a daughter of the late Chester Lee and Clarabelle Himes Myers.

In earlier years, she had been employed by the former National Worsted Mills, and was previously a communicant of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Lakewood, N.Y.

She will be remembered as a loving and caring mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Surviving are two daughters: Kathleen (Robert) Hedrich of East Randolph, N.Y., and Melissa (Mark) Hedstrand of Frewsburg, N.Y.; a son, Richard “Bub” Peterson II of Little Valley, N.Y.; four grandchildren: John R.F. Hedrich (Jamie Post) of Little Valley, N.Y., Mark S. (Danielle) Hedstrand II of Clarendon, Pa., David C. Hedstrand of Jamestown, and Jessica A. (Rolfe) Mosher of Frewsburg, N.Y., and four great-grandchildren: Mark S. Hedstrand III, Sakura Hedstrand, Hailey Ruth Mosher and Selena Hedrich.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard O. Peterson; a sister, Dorothy Lundmark Johnson; and a brother, Paul Myers.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday in Holy Apostles Parish at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. The Rev. Dennis W. Mende, pastor, will be celebrant. Burial will be in the Tucker Cemetery, town of Poland.

Friends will be received from 6-8 p.m. today (Friday) in the Lind Funeral Home, where a Christian Wake Service will be led by Deacon Sam Pellerito at 5:45 p.m. today in the funeral home.
