Bemus Point Fire Department Sale Garners $1,000 For Library
BEMUS POINT – During the recent statewide fire department recruiting open house, the Bemus Point Volunteer Fire Department held a rummage sale at the fire hall, with items donated from the community. The fire department presented the Bemus Point Library with the proceeds of the sale – a check for $1,000.
“We are grateful to the community response, both in donations to the sale and the shoppers who visited the fire hall,” said Steve Hayes, fire chief. “Our community resources depend on each other to be successful, just as our county fire departments rely on each other for mutual aid. We are happy we could help our local library.”
Kathleen McCarthy, library director, felt similarly.
“The fire department has designated these generous funds be used for new movies, new release fiction and non-fiction books, as well as adding to our children’s collection,” McCarthy said. “As we are seeing more patrons and circulation, we are thrilled to have the opportunity to provide more titles for our patrons. Our partnership is an outstanding example of the importance of working together to make our community strong.”
