Tea At The Lenhart Is Sunday

BEMUS POINT – An upcoming event provides area residents the opportunity to step back in time.

The Bemus Point Study Club is hosting the annual “Tea at the Lenhart” event on Sunday at 2 p.m. The event will feature tea sandwiches, sweet treats, tea, coffee, a basket drawing and a speaker.

Alice O’Grady will be the featured speaker, portraying Mae West, an American actress, singer, playwright, screenwriter and sex symbol.

According to Kathleen McCarthy, Bemus Point Library director, the dining room at the Hotel Lenhart lends itself to an old-fashioned setting, reminiscent of days gone by.

“It’s a wonderfully old-fashioned dining room,” McCarthy said.

Tickets are $12 and are available at the Bemus Point Library, located at 13 Main St. Although tickets will be sold at the door, pre-sale tickets are preferred. All proceeds will benefit the library.

“Everyone is welcome,” McCarthy said. “The event is for anyone looking to have an old-fashioned good time.”

The Bemus Point Study Club was organized in 1903 by Elizabeth Bemus. In 1907 she established the Bemus Point Library.

Throughout the year, the club organizes an array of fundraising activities and special events. The long tradition of community service and events support the library.
