Goose Creek Overflows, Closing Roads In North Harmony
NORTH HARMONY – Wind and rain expected to hit the area late last week waited until Tuesday night to hit hard.
The biggest issue in the town of North Harmony is the overflow of Goose Creek at the intersection of Route 474 and Maple Avenue in Ashville, which is closed until further notice.
“In 25 years, I’ve never seen the water come up over the road,” said Dan Strickland, North Harmony highway superintendent. “We’ve got the same issues every town has, but water is subsiding. We’re out trying to repair shoulder damage.”
Also, the town of Busti has closed Fardink Road from Route 43 to Fairmount Avenue.
“We’re all working together,” Strickland said. “It’s sharing services at its finest.”
