Derby Party Held To Benefit Agape Acres

FREWSBURG – A Kentucky Derby party was held at the Rio in Frewsburg on May 3 to benefit Agape Acres, a rescue ranch on Abbey Hill Road in Kennedy.

Agape Acres, owned and operated by Gregg and Sue Davis, is a member of Horse-Resource located in Ellicottville. The group is dedicated to re-homing, educating horse owners and providing officials with a list of caring individuals who have offered assistance. The resource list is comprised of people who have offered to trailer seized horses, foster seized horses, provide hay, grain and medical care.

Further information is located on their website at Horse-Resource.org.

A Derby Hat Contest was held and the winners were Renate Heinke and Craig Hartnagle.

The Rio has had such an overwhelming support for this cause that it has decided to continue its support throughout the next two races of the Triple Crown. The Preakness race is May 17 and the Belmont Stakes is June 7.
