Couple Charged After Starving Cows, Goats

ALLEGANY – An Allegany couple was charged on April 28 after allegedly starving 14 cows and six goats to death.

Chautauqua County Humane Society investigator Rey Muniz Jr. charged Christopher Andera with 14 counts of failure to provide sustenance, food/water to an animal in connection with the death of 14 cows.

Catherine Conhiser Andera was also charged with six counts of failure to provide sustenance, food/water to an animal in connection with the death of six goats.

The dead animals were discovered in March, after a complaint led Cattaraugus County investigators and a Chautauqua County veterinarian to execute a search warrant at the 3869 Wing Hollow Road residence.

When the dead animals were found, all remaining livestock at the property was seized.

The Andera couple will appear in Allegany Court at a later date.
