Flash Flood Warning For Chautauqua, Cattaraugus Counties

A flash flood warning is in effect until 12:15 p.m.

The National Weather Service in Buffalo issued the warning for northwestern Cattaraugus County and northeastern Chautauqua County.

At 7:05 a.m., the National Weather Service indicated over 2 inches of rain had fallen during a three-hour period from slow-moving showers and thunderstorms. Law enforcement reported many closed roads due to high water in the area.

Route 394 from Waterboro Hill Road to Ellington Street was closed early this morning, but has since reopened.

Randolph Central School District closed due to the flooding.

Evacuations have begun in the village of Silver Creek. Area rescue agencies were being dispatched to the village.

According to the Chautauqua County Emergency Management department, village residents were asked to monitor the rainstorms and prepare to evacuate.

Around 10 a.m. today, waters were receding after rains had ended.
