Wednesday Hours To Begin At BPU Yard Waste Site

The Jamestown Board of Public Utilities Solid Waste Division recently announced that Wednesday hours at the BPU Yard Waste Site will begin for the summer season on May 14. Wednesday hours will take place from 4-7 p.m. each week.

The Yard Waste Site already is open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays. Green yard waste is accepted at the site, located at the dead-end of Monroe Street where it extends from Eighth Street. A garbage truck is at the site on Saturdays only.

The Yard Waste Site is limited to use by BPU Solid Waste customers who are entitled to one free sticker per Solid Waste account. A new 2014 sticker is required and may be obtained at the BPU Customer Service office, 92 Steele St., open 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. weekdays.

Examples of what may be accepted include land clearing debris, tree branches, leaves and brush.

Brown yard waste bags are available at the Customer Service office. The 30-gallon bags cost $10 for four bags, which includes home pick-up service of the bags, whether collected all at once or individually by the BPU.
