Bears Win Behind Johnson’s Two-Hitter

FREWSBURG – Behind Tage Johnson’s pitching, Frewsburg was able to raise its record to 6-3 in the Division 1 West baseball and 7-7 overall on Friday afternoon.

Johnson allowed a run in six innings with 10 strikeouts and five walks while hurling a two-hitter as the Bears downed Dunkirk (3-7), 9-5.

Koby Carder pitched the final inning for the Bears and put Dunkirk down in order.

Bryce Peterson, Bryce Raymond and Garrett Steele had two hits for the winners. Steele delivered a two-run double and Peterson also had a double.

Joziah Rivera delivered a two-run double and Julian Fred another single for the lone Dunkirk hits.

MG ROLLS TO WIN

SILVER CREEK – Matt Roach and Dalton DuBois pitched effectively as Maple Grove (3-6) rolled over Silver Creek (1-8, 3-9), 11-1.

Roach went five innings, yielding a run with four strikeouts and four walks, and DuBois mopped up with two strikeouts for Maple Grove.

Nolan Knipe, Cass Howard and Roach each had two hits and drove in a run for MG.

Adam Klajbor stroked three hits and doubled in SC’s lone run in the first inning.
