John F. Kenney
CONEWANGO VALLEY – John F. Kenney, 81, a retired television sales and service manager for Kenney’s TV, where he worked for 36 years, died Wednesday, May 7, 2014, at Buffalo General Hospital in Buffalo, N.Y.
He was born Sept. 14, 1932, in Olean, N.Y., the son of the late Stanley and Victoria (Kuklewicz) Kenney.
John graduated from Pine Valley Central School, and was a life member of the Pine Valley Veterans of Foreign Wars 2522, where he was chaplain and post commander. He also belonged to the South Day-ton American Legion Post 1593.
He enjoyed antique tractors and restored several. He was a gardener, hunter and woodsman.
Full military honors will be conducted by the South Dayton American Legion Post 1593 and the Pine Valley Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2522, as John served in the Army during the Korean conflict.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Nancy A. Kenney of Conewango Valley, N.Y.; three sons: James M. (Jill) Kenney of Conewango Valley, N.Y., William E. Kenney of Jamestown, N.Y., and Michael J. (Akemi) Kenney of Kagoshima, Japan; three daughters: Linda M. (Jeff) Carver of Cloverdale, Calif., Patricia A. Kenney of Jamestown, N.Y., and Lillian (Chris) Howard of South Dayton, N.Y.; four grandchildren; and two brothers: Stanley Kenney of Pensacola, Fla., and Edward Kenney of St. College, Pa.
Visitation will be held at Hills Funeral Chapel, 478 Balcom Corners, South Dayton, N.Y., on Sunday May 11, 2014, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m.
Funeral services will be held Monday, May 12, 2014, at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church, 189 Main St., Randolph, N.Y. Father Joseph Janaczak of St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church, will be officiating. Burial will be in the Cherry Creek Central Cemetery, Cherry Creek.
