Legion To Host Bluegrass Music

LAKEWOOD – Lakewood Legion Post 1286 will be hosting a bluegrass jam Thursday from 7-10 p.m. The kitchen will be serving specials and snack menu from 6-9. All members and guests are welcome; please sign in.

Marco Polo Club To Host Dinner

The Marco Polo Club will hold a spaghetti dinner on Saturday from 4:30-7 p.m. The cost is $8 for adults and $4 for children.

Mother’s Day Skate Is Saturday

There will be a Mother’s Day Skate on Saturday from 6-8 p.m. at the Jamestown Savings Bank Arena to benefit the Blue Star Mothers. Skate admission will be $7 and includes skate rental.

Soup-R Saturday In Westfield

WESTFIELD – The Zonta Club announces participation in a fundraiser for “Lily’s Hope” at Crossroads in Westfield on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. It’s the Fifth Annual Soup-R Saturday put on by Kathy “Blanche” Milliman of Blanche’s Goodie Garden located at Cross Roads in Westfield. The fundraiser is a soup “taste-test” and sale, where all proceeds will go toward helping women in Chautauqua County receive free wigs, caps, turbans or scarves from “Lily’s Hope.” Open since November 2010, “Lily’s Hope” has been a great resource helping over 200 in need. Fashion Show Set For Saturday

SHERMAN – The Sherman Chamber of Commerce is hosting a Fashion Show and Amateur Comedy Show on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at the Sherman Fire Hall. The fashions are provided by GG My Love from Chautauqua and Bemis Point. Sherman firemen show uniforms past and present and some surprise fashions. The tickets are $10 and are available in Sherman at Miss Laura’s, Rose Lynn’s Emporium, Something Unique and Tex’s Quick stop or by calling 499-0273. There will be tickets still available at the door. The best comedic act will win $200.

Children Asked To Read To Dog

Tasha, the canine reading partner therapy dog, will be at the Mary E. Seymour Memorial Free Library, Stockton on Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to noon. School-aged children are encouraged to read to Tasha for 15 minutes. Activities will be provided while they wait. This program is designed to make reading fun.

Community Meal Set For Saturday

RIPLEY – The Ripley United Methodist Church is holding an all-you-can-eat community breakfast on Saturday from 8-11 a.m. in the fellowship hall of the church. The breakfast features eggs made to order [including a variety of omelets], toast, bacon, sausage, biscuits and gravy, fried potatoes, corned beef hash, pancakes, orange juice and coffee. The church is located at 84 W. Main St., Ripley and the cost per person is $6. This breakfast will benefit the Outreach Ministries.
