Lions Club Hears History Of Myers Library

FREWSBURG – The Frewsburg Lions Club met recently in the Community Room at Frewsburg Central School. DeForest Warn, program chair for the evening, introduced Melvin Feather, president of the Board of Trustees of Myers Memorial Library. He gave a brief history of how the library was formed and the path it has followed to become a multi-faceted cultural and research center in the Frewsburg community. He discussed the importance of how the town and the school work closely with community volunteers to make the library a valuable asset.

He pointed out that volunteerism is really what makes a community and that the trustees and other volunteers at Myers Library are a part of that mix.

At the business meeting, Lion President Robin Schroeder announced that the annual Junior Lion Award will be presented at the May 12 meeting. The final collection for the Pennies for Paws was taken. Proceeds from the recent ticket sale will be awarded to former Lion member Debbie Pring and her husband, Jim Kolenda, to assist them with costs for his battle with Lou Gehrig’s Disease. Don Dove reported that he and his wife, Martha, just returned from the Multiple District 20 Convention in Lake Placid, and will also be attending the Convention of Lions Clubs International in Toronto this summer.

The next meeting will be May 12 at Frewsburg Central School.
