Ripley Board To Meet Thursday

RIPLEY – The regular Ripley Central School Board of Education meeting will be held on Thursday at 6:30 p.m., in the Elementary Library (Room 129), for the purpose of any and all items that come before the board. The Ripley Central School Board of Education’s public hearing, for the purpose of presenting the school budget as adopted by the board of education for the fiscal year July 1, 2014 through June 30, 2015, will begin at 7:30 p.m., in the Elementary Library (Room 129). The public is invited to attend.

Rod And Gun Club To Meet

The Lakewood Rod and Gun Auxiliary board will meet on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. The auxiliary will meet for a fun-fun dinner on Monday, May 12 at 6 p.m. The theme is Hooray for Hollywood. Members attending should dress as their favorite celebrity or with ”glitz,” glamour and ”bling.” The cost is $6 per person. Entertainment will be provided by Chuck Guiffre. Greeters will be Jan Pintagro and Jan DeVoe. Marcia Johnson and Nancy Rasmussen will be helpers.

Water Agency To Meet Thursday

There will be a meeting of the Chautauqua County Water Agency on Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Sheridan VFW, 2556 Route 20, Sheridan. CCWA was formed pursuant to Resolutions 211-13 and 246-13 of the Chautauqua County Legislature to evaluate water supply needs in northern Chautauqua County and recommend to the County Legislature the creation of county water district(s) as may be necessary in the best interest of the people of Chautauqua County.

Outdoor Club

To Row Friday

On Friday the Allegheny Outdoor Club will kayak/canoe Tionesta Creek from Sheffield to Blue Jay Bridge for a distance of 8.5 miles. Participants will meet at the boat launch in Sheffield at 11 a.m. Your boat will need a registration or launch permit, and PFDs. For more information call Dennis Anderson at 969-9772.

Bake Sale

Set For Saturday

ASHVILLE – The Open Meadows United Methodist Church will host a bake and rummage sale Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the basement of the church at 3183 Open Meadows Road. Crafts, rummage items and homemade baked goods will be available.

Mediterranean Dinner Planned

A Mediterranean dinner will be held on Friday, May 16, at 5:30 p.m. This will take place at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Jamestown, 1255 Prendergast Ave. near Buffalo Street. It is open to the public. The exotic cuisines of Greece, Italy, Spain and Africa will be featured. Food items will include Greek salad, pasta, falafel (fried patties made from ground chickpeas), humus and cous-cous salad. All food will be prepared by seasoned cooks from the church. Advance reservations are recommended, as seating is limited. They can be made by emailing the church uucj@windstream.net, or phoning in at 488-1902. Reservations received by Sunday will receive a $2 discount on the ticket price. The cost of the dinner is $20 per person, or $18 with advance reservations. The dinner is being held early enough for diners to attend the Jamestown Concert Association’s “Brasshoppers” concert the same evening at St. Luke’s Church. The Concert Association will give a discount to anyone who also attends the dinner.
