Elite Finishes Second At Tourney

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Jamestown Elite seventh-grade basketball team finished second at the Slippery Rock Tournament on Sunday.

In pool play, the first game was a loss to the WPA Bruins, 38-27.

Leading the way was Natalie Angeletti with six points and 10 rebounds, and Olivia Gates had six points.

The second game was a win over the Alley Oops, 43-3.

Allie Stockwell had 10 points, eight rebounds and four steals while Macey Lundmark had seven points and four steals, and Angeletti had six points and five steals.

The third game was a win over Slaam-Neville, 36-28, as Erin Radack had nine points and three rebounds and Lundmark picked up eight points and three steals.

In the quarterfinals, the Elite defeated Venom, 43-19.

Stockwell had 17 points, including three 3-pointers, and four rebounds, Lundmark had 12 points and five steals, and Hannah Frederick finished with six points and seven rebounds.

In the semifinals, the Elite defeated Slaam-Woodson, 33-28.

Trailing with under a minute to go, Lundmark made two key free throws to give the Elite its first lead of the game.

Margo Loutzenhiser had 16 points and three rebounds and Stockwell had seven points and three rebounds.

In the championship game, the Elite lost to the WPA Bruins, 35-22.

Angeletti had eight points and six rebounds, and Lundmark recorded eight points and five rebounds.
