Roast Chicken Meal Is Today

The Dewittville Hartfield United Methodist Church, route 430 and Meadows Road, Dewittville, will hold a roast chicken dinner today from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Dinner will include one-half of a roast chicken, potato salad, baked beans, dessert and beverage. The cost is a donation of $8.

Registration For TOPS Is Today

Twenty-four TOPS 721 Jamestown members met recently and named best losers Cecelia Brisley, TOPS and Diane Anderson, KOPS. Barb Linza received free dues. Registration for the spring workshop in Kidder Memorial United Methodist Church, corner of South Main Street and Cole Avenue, will begin at 9 a.m. today. Anderson presented a program on proper ways to lose weight and 100 things to do instead of eating. The thought was that we have always had the power to change our lives by losing weight. It is just up to us to use that power we have to change our lives. Chapter weigh-in is 8:30-9:30 a.m. each Thursday, followed by a meeting in the Kidder UMC. For more information, call 763-4626.

Pet Loss Group To Meet Tuesday

The Chautauqua County Humane Society sponsored Pet Loss Bereavement Group meets Tuesday from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at the James Prendergast Library, 509 Cherry St., Jamestown, in the second-floor conference room. The group is facilitated by Roberta Thompson, MSW; Maggie Irwin, LMSW; and Jennifer Morse, RVT, and meets the first Tuesday of each month.

Outdoor Club

To Row Sunday

On Sunday, the Allegheny Outdoor Club will kayak/canoe the Clarion River. This will be a 6-mile float that will begin at the put-in 3 miles upstream from the Route 36 bridge in Cooksburg and end at the take-out at Gravel Lick Road. Participants will meet at Howe’s True Value at 12:30 p.m. or at the Cooksburg put-in at 1:30 p.m. Your boat will need a registration or launch permit, and PFDs. Salad Bar Lunch Set For May 10

The Jamestown Free Methodist Church, 515 E. Seventh St., Jamestown, will hold a women’s ”salad bar” lunch on Saturday, May 10 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., open to women of all ages. The theme of the lunch is ”Contentment: A Fragrant Offering to the Lord” and is presented by Heidi Payot. Reservations/sign-ups are requested; call 484-1542.

Chicken Dinner Set For Sunday

BEMUS POINT – Ellery Center Volunteer Fire Department, 4400 Dutch Hollow Road, Bemus Point, is having a chicken barbecue Sunday from noon until sold out. This dinner is a take-out dinner only. One can pre-order by calling 386-5381. Delivery can be arranged in the town of Ellery. The cost is $8 per adult and $6.25 for 12 and under. Dinner will include potatoes, apple sauce, coleslaw, dinner roll and dessert.
